Back Office Server Engineer

Our client URGENTLY requires the services of a Back Office Server Engineer to:
  • Assist in the day-to-day IT needs of the entire clients organisation
  • including, but not limited to, network infrastructure, workstations, servers, databases, SaaS and hosted services and software.
  • Handle everything from an end user to a server failure and repair. Virus and malware fixes, database repair and connectivity diagnostics.
  • Able to asses a volatile situation at and with a user and walk away with it being fixed and the user happy with the result.
  • Installation, support, maintenance, provisioning and troubleshooting of desktop, mobile systems, laptop and network components.
Installation, support, maintenance, provisioning and troubleshooting of various software and SaaS packages including, but not limited to: Office 365 Enterprise, VPN, Sage 300 ERP system.
  • Assist in supporting our mobile workforce.
  • Assist in training new hires and current employees on existing and new systems.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending software to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Creating and maintaining step by step guides and procedure manuals.
  • Assist in job setup procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and software.
  • Ability to bring a task to completion.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy, strong phone and e-mail communication.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule.
  • System backup and recovery procedures and techniques.
  • Answer staff questions in person and via phone on all company supported applications.
  • Conduct on-site and remote troubleshooting of computer problems.
  • Receive customer trouble tickets, analyze and take corrective action.
  • Advise staff on appropriate action.
  • Remove and add system permissions for customers.
  • Serve as liaison between staff and the technology department to resolve issues and train &
  • orient new staff members.
  • Document resolutions for future reference.
  • Perform hardware and software installations.
  • Traveling nationally to support employees at our office locations.
The incumbent should have:
  • 5+ years experience as a Back Office Server Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Android and iOS. Familiarity or willingness to learn applications from Sage, Microsoft, and Adobe.

  • flexibility and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills a must.
  • Skills of self-motivation, time management and the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with hands on computer hardware / software support and maintenance. (2 -3 Years experience).
  • College or Technical diploma preferred in computer information systems and/or computer science or related field.
